Dr. Alyssa Travers is a licensed psychologist in the states of Massachusetts and Rhode Island and certified yoga teacher (RYT-200). She is also a lecturer on faculty at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Travers earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the College of the Holy Cross, and her master’s and doctoral degrees in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Travers specializes in therapy for women, children, and adolescents. She is particularly interested in working with teen girls and women to develop concrete strategies for managing stress, building self-confidence, and self-advocating for their needs and self-worth in the outside world. As a yoga teacher, Dr. Travers utilizes a mind-body approach that infuses mindfulness and yoga with additional evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy.
She also has a speciality in conducting neuropsychological and psychological evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults with a range of developmental, learning, and behavior concerns. She has a particular speciality in evaluating individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and is an expert on evaluating and treating females on the spectrum.
